Warrick County officials have approved the construction of a new parking lot at the Deaconess Gateway Campus, a decision that promises to enhance accessibility for visitors and staff. Project engineer Jim Worley Jr. presented the plan during the recent Drainage Board meeting, highlighting the strategic location and design of the parking area.
The new parking lot, marked by a gray square on the project exhibit, will be accompanied by a wet detention basin designed to manage stormwater runoff effectively. This basin will collect and detain water before it enters the existing drainage pipe network, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and reducing the risk of flooding.
Worley explained that the site, previously part of the Crossroads Church complex, is well-equipped to handle the additional water flow due to its connection to the established drainage system that channels water into Howard Williams Ditch. The project aims to utilize the existing infrastructure, which has been designed to accommodate such developments.
This approval marks a significant step forward for the Deaconess Gateway Campus, as it seeks to improve facilities and services for the community. The construction of the parking lot is expected to begin shortly, with the goal of enhancing the overall experience for those visiting the campus. As the project progresses, local residents can look forward to increased convenience and improved access to healthcare services in the area.
