A significant change order was approved at the recent Marysville City Council meeting, impacting the city's ongoing infrastructure project. The council discussed adjustments related to the water and sewer lines, resulting in a cost reduction of $91,739 due to the water line not needing to be relocated as initially planned.

The project will now include the relocation of the sewer main to the east, utilizing an open trench method. This approach is expected to be nearly half the cost of boring, making it a more economical choice. The council emphasized the benefits of this method, including the addition of new dirt rather than leaving rocky soil in place.

In addition to the sewer line adjustments, the council announced the reinstatement of a sidewalk that had previously been removed from the project design. This sidewalk will extend south from Keating Street, with future plans to connect it towards Keystone, enhancing accessibility in the southern area of town.

While the sewer line relocation will incur an additional cost of $17,760, the overall financial adjustments reflect a proactive approach to managing the city's infrastructure needs.
