Elkhorn Area School District is set to enhance student experiences with a series of community-driven initiatives and personnel changes following the recent school board meeting held on September 22, 2025.

One of the standout announcements was the upcoming Halloween Family Night, which will feature a trunk-or-treat event designed to foster community engagement and provide a fun environment for students and their families. Additionally, the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) highlighted that funds raised from various community donations will directly support school activities, including field trips and assemblies.

The meeting also showcased recent successful events at local schools. Tibbets Elementary reported on two recent field trips, including a visit to an apple barn for kindergartners and an adventure day for third graders, which included interactions with animals. Westside Elementary kicked off its physical education program with a soccer unit and received generous donations from Southern Lakes Church, providing essential clothing items for students.

The Options program celebrated a successful start to the school year with a fall picnic that encouraged family connections and student enthusiasm. Upcoming plans include a field trip to the Milton House for elementary and middle school students. At the high school level, the transition to the Canvas learning platform has been well-received, enhancing the educational experience for students.

In personnel matters, the board announced the appointment of Ellen Blair Stover as the new middle school head principal, succeeding Mister Birney, who has moved to a director position in special education. The board also approved several new hires, ensuring that the district continues to support its educational mission with qualified staff.
