A new trash enclosure design for a building in Dublin has sparked discussions among city officials, focusing on its visibility and accessibility. During a recent Architectural Review Board meeting, concerns were raised about the enclosure's location on the south side of the new structure, which will be elevated at street level. This positioning could make it visible to passersby, particularly those looking downhill.

Tim Lide, a representative involved in the project, clarified that the enclosure will be surrounded by walls on three sides, with gates matching the building's siding to minimize visibility. However, the design requires trash collection trucks to back down the street to access the dumpsters, as the enclosure is not designed for trucks to enter directly.

Board members expressed concerns about the practicality of this setup, particularly regarding the ease of accessing the dumpsters. Lide assured them that the plan includes wheeled dumpsters that can be pulled out to the street for collection, rather than requiring trucks to maneuver into the enclosure.

The meeting also touched on other aspects of the project, including color choices and the absence of an elevator in the existing Red House structure. The discussions highlighted the challenges of integrating various functional elements within a limited space while maintaining aesthetic appeal.

As the project moves forward, city officials will continue to refine details, ensuring that both functionality and design meet community standards.
