The recent meeting of the San Francisco City Council highlighted key updates from the Support Services division, led by Assistant Deputy Chief Mike Mullen. During August, the division initiated 82 service requests and completed 92 service orders, demonstrating a proactive approach to community needs.
A significant focus was placed on plumbing issues, with 27 service calls specifically addressing these concerns. Additionally, the team inspected two host tenders in Modesto and received new units, which will enhance operational capabilities.
Mullen also discussed ongoing efforts related to the Easter bond planning. He met with the Office of Resilience and Capital Planning to prepare for the next bond request, which aims to address various infrastructure needs. This includes assessing projects at Fire Stations 14 and 15 on Evans Street and developing cost estimates for necessary improvements.
In terms of public safety infrastructure, the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) conducted maintenance on bay suction hydrants in the Marina District. A video assessment of the interior of the pipes was performed, revealing that out of six hydrants inspected, two were inoperable while four were functioning properly. Captain McGuigan is actively monitoring these hydrants to ensure they are operational.
Overall, the meeting underscored the city's commitment to maintaining essential services and infrastructure, with ongoing assessments and planning aimed at enhancing community safety and resilience.
