The City of Waukesha's Plan Commission has unanimously approved the final subdivision plat for Winterberry Reserve Phase 1, which will feature 39 single-family lots and three outlots. This decision, made during the meeting on September 24, 2025, marks a significant step in the development of the 22-acre site, with the first phase covering approximately 13.5 acres.

The Winterberry Reserve subdivision is designed to include a mix of lot sizes, with larger lots situated along the eastern and northern edges, adjacent to existing neighborhoods. The interior will feature smaller lots, ranging from 4,000 to 4,500 square feet, alongside more typical lots of around 10,000 square feet. This layout aims to create a diverse residential community that caters to various housing needs.

City officials noted that the final plat closely resembles the preliminary plat approved earlier this year, with no major concerns raised during the review process. A key improvement highlighted was the straightening of a road that had previously curved, addressing engineering recommendations to enhance accessibility and safety.

Commission members also discussed the temporary cul-de-sacs that will be in place until the next phase of development is completed. Fire department representatives expressed no concerns regarding access, indicating that the connections to adjacent subdivisions will be established promptly.

The approval of Winterberry Reserve Phase 1 is expected to pave the way for further development in the area, with plans for a second phase anticipated to follow soon after the first phase is filled. This project is poised to contribute to Waukesha's growing residential landscape, providing new housing options for residents.
