The Rio Blanco County Fair saw a significant boost in participation this year, with a record 2,022 entries, up from 1,691 last year. This increase was highlighted during the Rio Blanco County Board of County Commissioners meeting on September 23, 2025, where fair organizers expressed gratitude for the community's support and involvement.
Fair representative Chrissy noted that the smoother operation of this year's event was largely due to the increased number of volunteers. "We had more people helping us," she said, emphasizing the collaborative effort that contributed to the fair's success. The number of exhibitors rose to 356, up from 331 last year, showcasing a diverse range of entries, particularly in the quilt show and art categories.
Despite the overall success, livestock participation saw a decline, with 131 animals sold compared to 155 the previous year. However, the sale committee's efforts to streamline the auction process resulted in a total sale amount of $421,006.50, an increase of over $28,000 from last year, despite selling fewer animals. The fair's total gross, including add-ons, reached over $507,000, demonstrating the community's strong support for local youth and agriculture.
The meeting also touched on the importance of sponsorships, which increased to around $28,000 this year, up from $21,900 in 2024. New partnerships, such as with Tractor Supply, provided essential resources, including shavings for the show and sale rings, contributing to the fair's overall success.
As the fair continues to grow, organizers are optimistic about future participation and community engagement, with plans to enhance the experience for both exhibitors and attendees. The positive feedback from buyers and participants alike underscores the fair's role in promoting local agriculture and fostering community spirit in Rio Blanco County.
