His previous role was as the K-8 dual language program coordinator at Loa Huber Park in the Beaverton School District, where he focused on enhancing bilingual instruction and supporting teachers through professional development.
Vargas is recognized for his commitment to equity and inclusion, aiming to foster student success through culturally responsive practices. He has also coordinated summer learning programs designed to support multilingual students academically and socially. His educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in liberal studies from Portland State University and a Master’s in educational leadership from Lewis and Clark College. As an immigrant from Jalisco, Mexico, Vargas emphasizes the importance of creating an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and empowered.
The board welcomed Vargas warmly, marking a positive step forward for Centennial Middle School as it continues to prioritize diverse educational leadership.
