The Bellevue Planning Commission met on September 25, 2025, to discuss a revised multifamily housing development proposal that aims to address the community's need for affordable housing. The project, initially proposed with 96 units, has been scaled down to 80 units in response to parking concerns raised during previous discussions.
The new plan features a four-story building with an underground parking garage, achieving a parking ratio of 1.5 spaces for every unit. Approximately 75% of the units will be one- and two-bedroom apartments, with the remaining units consisting of three- and four-bedroom options. This adjustment aligns with the city’s goal of providing affordable housing options for residents.
City staff expressed confidence in the revised site plan, noting that it complies with landscaping requirements and has been reviewed positively by the Public Works department. A traffic study conducted in May indicated that no additional improvements are necessary from the developer, further supporting the project's approval.
The commission highlighted the importance of this development in enhancing the neighborhood's compatibility and minimizing any negative impacts on the surrounding area. The project has already received prior approval for a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) redevelopment plan, which will aid in its execution.
As the meeting concluded, the commission members were encouraged by the collaborative efforts of the developer, Brent Beller, and his team, who have worked diligently to address community concerns. The approval of this project is seen as a significant step towards meeting the housing needs of Bellevue residents while ensuring adequate parking solutions.
