The City of Hollywood held a workshop on September 25, 2025, to discuss the Fiscal Year 2026 Special Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Board Budget. The meeting focused on budget allocations for various projects and staffing changes within the CRA.
The discussion began with an overview of reimbursements related to CRA staff costs that have been transferred to the City, alongside other administrative expenses. Key projects funded through the carry-forward budget were highlighted, including the Tyler Street sidewalk project aimed at repairing sidewalk cracks and leveling uneven surfaces.
Further details included the downtown CRA's wayfinding and neighborhood signage project, as well as an alleyway drainage project that involves repaving and grading the north alleyway between Nineteenth and Twentieth Streets. The Tyler Street Streetscape project, which spans from Twenty-First to Twentieth Avenue, is pending restriping of adjacent parking spaces by the estate group.
Significant funding was allocated for the neighborhood avenues improvement project, totaling $1.7 million. This includes $610,000 for ADA-compliant sidewalk repairs, $961,000 for a parking and traffic reconfiguration pilot program, and $150,000 for the Van Buren Drainage Project. The Harrison Street Streetscape Project is set to begin construction on Monday, with a budget of $6.5 million.
Additional projects discussed included the Hollywood Beach Golf Course Clubhouse, which has $4.8 million remaining to be paid out by the CRA, and the Bollard Project for Hollywood Boulevard, budgeted at $595,000. The Arts Park project was also mentioned, with $1.2 million allocated for a splash pad and funds set aside for the Tyler Street C slip project, expected to receive MPO funding in 2028. Lastly, $391,000 is earmarked for the Twentieth Avenue Streetscape project, with work anticipated to start in November 2025.
In terms of staffing, the meeting noted that 15 positions were transferred to the city during fiscal year 2025, including roles in beach maintenance, procurement, and development services. For FY 2026, it was proposed to eliminate the vacant executive director position and four part-time roles, leaving three full-time positions: a deputy director, a senior project manager, and an executive assistant. Two part-time positions will continue, including a senior project manager and an engineering inspector.
The workshop concluded with a clear outline of the CRA's budget priorities and staffing adjustments, setting the stage for the upcoming fiscal year.
