The Hinsdale Township High School District 86 held its Regular Action Meeting on November 21, 2024, where the agenda was notably adjusted to prioritize good news reports from Hinsdale Central and Hinsdale South before audience comments. Principal Phil Walsh of Hinsdale Central opened the meeting by highlighting the success of the fall athletic season. He introduced Athletic Director Mike Jessearo, who recognized various teams and their achievements. The girls' tennis team, led by Coach Shauna Zinko, celebrated a successful season, winning conference and sectional titles, and achieving a third-place finish at the state tournament. The girls' golf team, coached by Nick Latore, also had a remarkable season, culminating in a third-place finish at state.

The swim team, coached by Bob Barber, faced challenges due to a lack of a pool but managed to secure a commendable finish at the state meet. Coach Barber expressed pride in the team's resilience and accomplishments. The boys' soccer team, under Coach Mike Wiggins, turned around a difficult start to the season, ultimately winning multiple championships and achieving a historic record.

The boys' golf team, coached by Serge Hentzig, celebrated winning the state title after coming close in previous years. Hentzig highlighted the individual achievements of his players, including Drew Devata, who plans to continue his golfing career at Emory College.

In addition to athletic achievements, the meeting recognized two teachers of the year: Miss McLeod, a Latin teacher at Hinsdale Central, and Mr. Golic, a technology education teacher. Both were commended for their dedication and impact on students.

Student liaison Truman Patel provided insights into the student-athlete experience, noting the balance between academics and sports. While many athletes reported challenges in managing their time, they acknowledged the support systems available, such as tutoring programs. Patel also highlighted concerns about the social dynamics within sports teams, calling for a more positive environment.

Principal Carrie Peranto of Hinsdale South congratulated the recognized athletes and teachers from Hinsdale Central and expressed excitement for upcoming celebrations at Hinsdale South. Ian Malin, a student representative, shared achievements from Hinsdale South, including recognition for national merit scholars and successful performances in fine arts.

The meeting concluded with a sense of pride in the accomplishments of both schools, emphasizing the importance of community support and the dedication of students and staff alike.
