Eagle Point School District 9 is making significant strides in teacher development, as highlighted in the recent work session on March 20, 2024. The district has implemented a new coaching program aimed at enhancing instructional practices, with a focus on first-year teachers. This year marks the inaugural implementation of "impact cycles," where instructional coaches collaborate with teachers to improve their teaching strategies.
Currently, 38 first-year teachers are participating in this initiative, alongside 29 secondary teachers, totaling 67 educators engaged in the program. The district has recorded an impressive 128 impact cycles, with 78 focused on elementary education and 50 on secondary education. This data underscores the commitment to professional growth across various experience levels, as many of the participating teachers are not just new but also include probationary and long-term substitute teachers.
The program allows teachers to engage in multiple cycles of improvement, with 24 teachers currently involved in two cycles and three teachers completing as many as eight cycles this year. This flexibility enables educators to continuously refine their skills and adapt their teaching methods based on feedback and results.
The meeting also showcased specific improvement goals set by teachers, emphasizing the tangible outcomes of the coaching program. The district's approach reflects a dedication to fostering a supportive environment for educators, ultimately benefiting students through enhanced teaching practices.
As Eagle Point School District 9 continues to develop its coaching program, the focus remains on creating a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring that all teachers have the resources and support they need to succeed in their roles.
