In a recent update during the "Mondays with the Mayor" session, St. Augustine Beach Mayor Dylan Rumrill shared exciting news about the upcoming Publix grocery store, which is set to open in November. The mayor praised Brian Law, the city’s building official, for his role in overseeing the construction, highlighting the significant progress made on the site.
The mayor noted that the area is undergoing a transformation, with the parking lot now paved and exterior work in full swing. This week, crews are focusing on landscaping, including the installation of trees and permeable pavers around the perimeter of the store. The parking lot has been striped, ensuring safety for residents when the store opens.
Inside the building, work is also advancing rapidly. The team is finalizing essential installations, including refrigeration lines and electrical circuits, while the Publix IT department is setting up software and computer systems. Some parts of the building have already been energized to support these efforts.
As the community eagerly anticipates the store's opening, Mayor Rumrill expressed optimism about the timeline, reaffirming that November remains the target date. He encouraged residents to stay tuned for further updates in the coming weeks, emphasizing the positive impact this new grocery store will have on the local community.
