Harrisville City is gearing up for significant growth, as the Planning Commission approved the preliminary and final site plan for a new Public Safety City Hall Building during their meeting on August 13, 2025. This decision is a crucial step in accommodating the city's expanding police force and administrative staff, driven by projected population increases.

The new facility, located at approximately 686 West 1750 North, is designed with future needs in mind. City officials emphasized the importance of planning for growth, ensuring that there is ample office space for both police and administrative functions. "We just didn't want to find ourselves in a place that we're in right now," one official noted, highlighting the necessity of forward-thinking design.

In addition to the City Hall project, the meeting also touched on infrastructure developments, including the installation of culinary water mains and service laterals for water, sewer, and secondary systems. Approval from Buena Vista for these installations has already been secured, paving the way for further progress.

The commission also discussed the rapid development of a nearby golf course, with multiple excavation crews currently at work. This project is expected to enhance the area significantly, with plans for additional commercial development contingent on population growth.
