Portsmouth's Planning Board has taken significant steps towards addressing the community's housing needs by reviewing two major land development proposals from the Church Community Housing Corporation during a special meeting on September 25, 2025.

The first proposal, known as the North Lot, located at 13 Bristol Ferry Road and Sprague Street, seeks to develop 15 residential units, with at least 25% designated as low to moderate income housing. This project includes a mix of townhouse and multi-unit buildings, designed to provide affordable homeownership options in the area.

The second proposal, referred to as the South Lot, is situated at 0 Turnpike Avenue and 0 Sprague Street. This development aims to construct 25 residential units, also with a minimum of 25% set aside for low to moderate income families. The South Lot will feature a three-story building that offers a variety of one, two, and three-bedroom units.

Both projects are part of a comprehensive permit application and are designed to work in tandem to enhance the community's housing stock.
