The Lebanon Fire Department is gearing up for an exciting milestone with the introduction of a new ladder truck, set to be officially put into service tomorrow at Station 11. Chief Chuck Batts shared that the event will include retired firefighters and chiefs, marking a significant moment for the department and the community.

The new ladder truck, which features a platform capable of holding up to three firefighters, enhances safety and access during fire emergencies. This upgrade is part of a broader effort to improve the department's capabilities, as firefighters have undergone extensive training—26 hours each—to operate the new apparatus.

As Lebanon continues to grow, so does its fire department. Chief Batts noted plans to add an additional engine company within the next three years, which would require hiring 12 new firefighters. This expansion aims to maintain high service levels in response to the increasing number of businesses and residents in the area.

In addition to the new equipment, the department is also expanding its training programs. By January 2026, Lebanon Fire will be fully operational for trench rescue, a critical service that currently requires assistance from neighboring counties. The department has already demonstrated its commitment to safety with successful rope rescues, including a recent incident involving a construction worker.

The department is on track to be fully staffed by early summer next year, with two firefighters graduating from the Northside Fire Academy in December and another starting in January. Chief Batts expressed pride in the dedication of his team, emphasizing their commitment to protecting the community.
