During the recent Oak Grove City Council meeting, discussions centered on the pressing issue of animal control services in the community. The council revisited a topic raised in the previous meeting regarding the need for reliable animal control providers, particularly as the current service from the Animal Bridal Humane Society is set to end this year.
The mayor informed the council that outreach efforts had been made to potential service providers, including one in Monticello. However, it was reported that Monticello is currently at capacity and unable to take on additional clients, leaving the city without a viable option from that provider.
Additionally, the council has been in contact with Companion Animal Control, which has reached out to local customers affected by the impending service termination. Unfortunately, the city is still awaiting a response from Companion Animal Control regarding their availability to take on Oak Grove's animal control needs.
This ongoing situation highlights the urgency for the city to secure a new animal control service to ensure the safety and well-being of both residents and animals in the community. As the council continues to seek solutions, the outcome will be crucial for maintaining effective animal management in Oak Grove.
