Pueblo City Council's recent work session highlighted several community-focused initiatives, beginning with a presentation from Chief of Staff Bridal McCain. The Pueblo Parks and Recreation Department is gearing up for a candy drive to support two upcoming events: the Haunted Rides at City Park on October 17 and 18, and a Trunk or Treat hosted by El Centro on October 25. Residents are encouraged to donate candy until October 23 at designated locations, including the Parks and Recreation administrative office and El Centro del Quinto Sol.
In addition to the candy drive, the Parks and Recreation Department is promoting the Little Dribblers basketball league, which features co-ed divisions for children aged 4 to 8. Registration for the league ends on October 1, with a participation fee of $65. Interested families can register online or in person at the Parks and Recreation Headquarters.
The meeting also announced upcoming town halls aimed at addressing community concerns. Mayor Heather Graham will join local officials, including Commissioner Swearingen and Sheriff Lucero, for a town hall focused on crime and public safety on October 2 at the San Diego Crystal Arts Center. Another town hall is scheduled for October 7 at CSU Pueblo, where the mayor will engage with students and the public, with the event available for live streaming on her Facebook page.
These initiatives reflect the city's commitment to community engagement and safety, providing residents with opportunities to participate and voice their concerns. As these events approach, Pueblo residents are encouraged to get involved and take advantage of the resources available to them.
