The proposed rezonings, identified as P R Z N 25 Dash 01 through 25 Dash 04 and 25 Dash 06, will transition several properties to new designations, including Residential Mixed Neighborhood (RMN), Residential Multifamily (RMF), and Mixed Use Innovation 2 (MUI 2). These changes are designed to enhance development opportunities while ensuring that current land uses remain permissible.
Among the properties slated for rezoning is 2501 East 13 Mile Road, which will shift from a single-family residential (R1) designation to RMN. Similarly, 1434 East 13 Mile Road will transition from R2 to RMF, and 30801 Dequindre Road will move from R2 to MUI 2. Other notable changes include 1042 East 12 Mile Road, changing from R3 to RMN, and the eastern 130 feet of 30728 John R Road, which will shift from R2 to B1, a neighborhood business district.
The planning commission recommended withdrawing one property, located at 500 West Gardenia Avenue, from further analysis, indicating a careful approach to the rezoning process. Following a brief discussion, the council moved to adopt ordinance 2205 on its second reading, encompassing the approved rezonings.
