Davis County Government has secured a significant boost for its tourism efforts, with the approval of a $182,250 grant from the Utah Office of Tourism. This funding, part of the Utah Cooperative Marketing Program, will support the "Discover Davis 2026" campaign, aimed at promoting local attractions and activities. The grant, which operates on a 1-to-1 matching basis, is set to begin on August 29, 2025, and will run until April 1, 2027.
Jessica Merrill, a key figure in the county's tourism office, has been instrumental in obtaining this grant, marking one of the highest amounts awarded in this funding round. Her efforts have been recognized as vital to enhancing the county's marketing capabilities.
In addition to the grant, the commission also approved a $20,500 agreement with Root Bridal Solutions to develop a strategic plan for the tourism division. This plan will be funded in two installments, with $10,250 allocated for 2025 and the remaining amount due in 2026.
These initiatives reflect Davis County's commitment to boosting its tourism sector and enhancing its appeal to visitors, setting the stage for a vibrant future in local tourism.
