Templeton has officially launched its budget season with the commencement of the capital improvements committee, which will evaluate capital requests from various departments and provide recommendations for fiscal year 2027 and beyond. The committee has outlined its meeting schedule, which includes a series of department reviews aimed at assessing funding needs.
On October 22, the committee will review requests from police development services, administration, and finance services. Following that, on October 29, it will hear from the fire department, community services, and the Narragansett Regional School District. The committee will continue its work on November 5, focusing on public services, sewer, light and water, and the community preservation committee (CPC).
The committee is set to develop its recommendations on November 19, with final recommendations to be presented on December 3. A public presentation of these recommendations is scheduled for December 15, just in time for the holiday season. All meetings will be live-streamed and recorded by TCTV, ensuring community members can stay informed about the budget discussions.
In addition to the capital improvements, the meeting also touched on TCTV's funding, with a business plan presented at the select board meeting on August 27. This aspect of the discussion highlights the ongoing efforts to secure resources for local media services, which play a vital role in community engagement and information dissemination.
