A comprehensive plan for the Lasso Loop, a shared-use path network in Prescott Valley, was unveiled during the Town Council Study Session on October 2, 2025. This ambitious project aims to enhance pedestrian and cyclist safety while promoting active transportation throughout the community.
The Lasso Loop will encircle the central part of Prescott Valley, connecting key destinations such as parks, grocery stores, and community centers. The plan is the result of extensive public engagement, including feedback gathered at local events like the Spring Fair and Red, White, and Boom. The council emphasized the importance of community input in shaping the path's design and alignment.
Ryan, a representative from the planning team, detailed the analysis process, which included evaluating existing conditions, traffic patterns, and future growth areas. The team divided the loop into 17 segments, each assessed for land ownership, construction feasibility, safety, and public support. The prioritization of these factors will guide the development of the path, ensuring it meets the needs of residents.
Andrew Baird, another planner, presented the recommended alignment and design guidelines. The path will feature various segments, including underpasses and crossings to enhance safety for users. The design will accommodate different types of users, from pedestrians to cyclists, with specific guidelines for speed and space to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
The council also discussed the integration of trailheads and spurs that connect to existing pathways, creating a cohesive multimodal network. This network is expected to promote healthier lifestyles and reduce reliance on vehicles.
As the project moves forward, the council is optimistic about the positive impact the Lasso Loop will have on Prescott Valley, enhancing connectivity and encouraging outdoor activity among residents. The next steps include finalizing the alignment and securing funding for construction, with hopes of breaking ground in the near future.
