The Los Alamos County Library Board is gearing up for a significant upgrade, focusing on the bid process for new software that could enhance services for patrons. During the October 6 meeting, board member Gwen outlined the evaluation process for selecting a vendor, emphasizing the importance of criteria that meet the needs of library users.
A key highlight of the discussion was the need for the new software to accept credit card payments, a feature that the current system lacks. "One of the major drivers is the ability to take payments with credit cards," Gwen stated, underscoring the library's commitment to improving user experience.
The board has been working diligently over the past few months to identify specific requirements for the new system, which will be evaluated through demonstrations from potential vendors. While the option to continue with the current vendor remains on the table, the board is keen on exploring new possibilities that align with their updated criteria.
In addition to the software discussions, the meeting also addressed logistical matters, including the closure of both library branches on November 7.
Council liaison Neil Clinton took a moment to express gratitude to the new board members, Ryan and Jason, for their commitment to public service. "You are doing your civic duty, which we need many more people to do," he remarked, highlighting the importance of community involvement.
As the library board moves forward with the software bid process, the anticipated improvements promise to enhance the overall library experience for Los Alamos County residents.
