The Palmyra Area School District board voted unanimously on Sept. 11 to approve an agreement with Maxim Healthcare Services to provide licensed registered nurses (RN) or licensed practical nurses (LPN) at a rate of $70 per hour plus supplies for the 2025-26 school year. The contract is intended to meet student-specific nursing needs when the district must provide in-school nursing services for students with health requirements.
Administrators clarified during the meeting that such contracts typically cover individual students whose medical needs require a dedicated nurse during the school day. Board members asked for brief public clarification; administrators confirmed the contracted nurse supports a student whose care is the district's responsibility during school hours.
The motion passed 8-0.
