The Revere City Council on Oct. 20 approved zoning measures including a stormwater management ordinance and an amended Fenno Street affordable housing overlay district, and the council also approved a $9,700 appropriation from the Community Improvement Trust Fund for a Ward 2 mural at Shirley Avenue.
Councilor Zambuto, reporting from the zoning subcommittee, said the subcommittee voted the stormwater management amendment out favorably and recommended engrossment and ordainment. The council conducted the roll call for engrossment and the ordinance was recorded as “engrossed and ordained.”
The zoning subcommittee also advanced the Fenno Street affordable housing overlay district with amendments; councilors voted to engross and ordain the measure as amended.
Separately, the council considered a Community Improvement Trust Fund appropriation to pay for a mural at the newly constructed pocket park at the intersection of Shirley Avenue and Sumner Street. Councilor Novosalski described the selection process: seven artists submitted proposals and two finalist designs will be presented; the council approved the $9,700 appropriation by roll call.
Ending: Both zoning ordinances were advanced to final form by council vote and the mural appropriation was approved; the zoning measures will proceed under the city’s ordinance adoption procedures and the mural project will move to artist selection and installation.
