On Oct. 6, the Shawnee County Board of County Commissioners approved an amendment (contract C373-2025) extending the lease for the Treasurer’s Motor Vehicle Annex at 5938 Southwest 17 for six months, from Jan. 1, 2026, through June 30, 2026, at a cost of $25,149.
Shawnee County Treasurer Susan Duffy presented the amendment and said the annex is commonly known as the Motor Vehicle Annex. Commissioners asked whether parking-lot repairs were included; Duffy said no recent county-funded repairs have been made, that the lessee did minor patching earlier in the year, and that the small lot is used by multiple customers and can be tight.
The commission approved the six-month extension by voice vote. The lease extension is recorded in the meeting packet as a short-term arrangement while the county continues to assess longer-term options for motor-vehicle services.
