Summary
The Shawnee County commission approved an addendum to a CanPay payment-services contract to expand use countywide, renewed a three-year CodeRED public notification agreement with Topeka police and renewed a VMware subscription for courts.
On Oct. 6, the Shawnee County Board of County Commissioners approved several contract actions, including an addendum to an existing CanPay payment-services contract, renewal of a CodeRED public-notification agreement with the Topeka Police Department and a one-year VMware subscription for the court system.
Mark Price of Information Technology said the CanPay addendum (contract C378-2025), originally executed for solid-waste payments under contract C225-2016, changes the scope so the county — rather than just the solid-waste division — may use the service; the addendum lists departments that will use the service and allows the county to add future departments. The commission voted to approve the addendum.
Sheriff’s Office representative Shane Hubert said the sheriff’s office is renewing its CodeRED agreement (contract C376-2025) with the Topeka Police Department for an auto-renewable three-year citizen notification service priced at $23,221.43; the sheriff noted a recent update to the service and said the office will promote sign-ups. The commission acknowledged the renewal and recorded approval.
Lee Welch, court administrator, asked the commission to approve contract C375-2025 with SHI International Corporation for an annual VMware subscription to support the court’s virtual servers. The subscription covers the period listed in the packet at a cost of $17,408.64; the commission approved the renewal and noted the expense was funded from the 2025 court administration budget.
Each contract action was approved by the commission in separate motions recorded during the meeting.
