The board also approved a seven-day extension for Blankenburger Brothers to complete the VC24-01-01 bridge-replacement work on Saint Joseph Road, moving the final completion date to Oct. 4, 2024, after the contractor reported steel reinforcement and concrete beam issues. The county engineer and commissioners emphasized that staff would confirm bid completeness and contract compliance before returning with a formal award recommendation for VC 24-08-04. Less critical details: commissioners’ votes on the awards and motions were recorded as Yes from Commissioner Gable, Commissioner Musgrave and President Elpers; staff said reviews of bid documents and financial statements are underway and will determine final awards.
