Autumn Fenton, Polk County Code Enforcement director, said staff has worked multiple cases and visited the neighborhood. She told the board that code enforcement can pursue daily fines under the county noise ordinance but that enforcement typically requires coordination with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. County legal counsel confirmed the fine maximum under state statute and county code is up to $15,000 per day for certain recurring, irreparable violations; staff said higher fines would require a change to the ordinance or state law.
Commissioners directed staff to follow up with the sheriff’s office and to pursue enforcement avenues; staff said it would arrange meetings with the substation deputies and county sheriff to coordinate responses. Residents said they would submit video evidence and signed statements to supplement enforcement efforts.
