Board approves Phase 1 agreement with SLAM Collaborative for proposed courts and county annex study

The Polk County Board approved a professional services agreement, not to exceed $494,337, with SLAM Collaborative for Phase 1 architectural and engineering services related to an updated courts and county annex master plan.
Manager Beasley said the county issued RFP 25185 and received five technical proposals; SLAM Collaborative was selected and negotiations concluded. Phase 1 will include master planning, space programming, site evaluation, cost estimating and a comprehensive update of current and projected space needs for the 10th Judicial Circuit and county administration. Beasley said Phase 1 is expected to take four to four‑and‑a‑half months; a separate Phase 2 amendment for detailed design, permitting and construction administration will be presented to the board after Phase 1 is complete.
Funding for the Phase 1 work is in the county’s general capital improvement fund, Beasley said. No construction contract or additional funding was approved today; the action authorized only Phase 1 professional services.
A motion and second were called and the chair declared the motion carried by voice vote.
