YUMA — The Yuma County Board of Supervisors on Sept. 15 proclaimed September 2025 as Hunger Action Month and heard from Yuma Community Food Bank leaders about local need and volunteer opportunities.
The proclamation noted statewide hunger statistics cited by the county, including an estimate that more than 1 million people in Arizona face food insecurity and that local food supporters distributed millions of meals last year. Sarah (Yuma Community Food Bank) told supervisors the food bank distributed more than 6 million meals to 363,977 people in 2025 through a network of pantries, soup kitchens and shelters and urged volunteers and donations.
