YUMA — The Yuma County Board of Supervisors on Sept. 15 proclaimed Sept. 25, 2025, as the Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims in Yuma County and encouraged citizens to support programs that assist survivors.
The proclamation noted the emotional and practical challenges families face after a homicide and acknowledged the work of victim advocates, prosecutors and investigators. Kathy (title given in transcript as a court representative) and Eva Salazar, director of victim services, and other advocates attended; Kathy invited victim advocates to join the board for a photo and thanked prosecutors and the sheriff’s office by name for their work.
Why it matters: The proclamation is largely symbolic but aims to focus community attention on services available for surviving family members and to encourage support for counseling, crisis intervention and other victim‑support programs.
