Pomona Unified School District officials on Wednesday detailed a renewed attendance-awareness campaign after reporting a 13 percentage-point decline in chronic absenteeism since the 2023–24 school year. Cesar Casarubias, Director of People Resources for Pomona Unified, told the Board of Education that "chronic absenteeism is when a student misses 10% or more of the enrollment of instructional day for any reason," and is an early indicator that a student may fall behind academically.
