The Dothan City Commission on Oct. 7 awarded the 2025 street resurfacing contract to Lewis Incorporated and issued a notice to proceed for $2,988,482.95.

City staff said the contract covers resurfacing work across multiple districts in the city; detailed lists of specific roads were not read aloud at the meeting but staff offered to provide the road list to commissioners. A commissioner asked whether payment would occur this year and was told the work and payment will begin in the current fiscal schedule.

Commissioners described the project as an important infrastructure improvement to support city transportation needs. The contract award was presented as part of the city’s bid and procurement process; the motion and second passed by voice vote.

City staff will return with construction schedules and detailed road lists for implementation. The contract includes standard notice-to-proceed and procurement paperwork to be executed by city staff and the contractor.
