The city manager told the council crews completed the major paving work on Valley Boulevard in a tight schedule, with final grading and utility collar work and striping to be finished in the coming days. Staff said the repave included grinding and repaving the full length in one contractor sequence and that crews adjusted grades at utility covers before stripe work.
Public‑works staff reported the Adonisin Road project south of the high school is underway, adding curb, gutter and sidewalk and widening the roadway to the west where shown on contract plans. The city manager said the contractor in that contract had previously worked for the city and was performing the work now in the field.
Tyler Napier, the public works director, was named by staff as the lead on the Centennial Plaza fountain work; staff said the fountain was repaired or replaced and would be operating in time for the Apple Festival on Saturday. Landscaping work at the Rodeo grounds was also underway, with irrigation installation and new trees scheduled; staff said they had rejected a tree delivery that did not meet standards and were procuring new plant material.
On regional highway projects, staff and council discussed multiple Caltrans projects in the corridor, including wrong‑way signage improvements, slab replacement and a multi‑stage truck‑climbing lanes project with a projected construction start around 2027 for at least one segment. The city manager and council emphasized that the bulk of those Caltrans projects are outside city limits but that city leadership is coordinating closely with Caltrans and regional partners on timing and mitigation.
What happens next: staff said final striping and utility adjustments on Valley Boulevard will continue this week; Adonisin Road work and Rodeo grounds landscaping will proceed and staff will provide future updates. Council members praised crews and encouraged public outreach while work is underway.
