City planning staff told the Southgate Planning Commission on Oct. 7 that the city’s ADU ordinance is scheduled for a second reading at City Council and that the planning department will host a follow‑up workshop with the commission in November.

Planning Manager Luis John Signo said commissioners should expect an email about mandatory harassment training required for commission service. "It is a required training that you need to take in order to be on the planning commission," Signo said; staff indicated certificates are issued upon completion and will be sent to the city clerks office.

Signo also said staff is preparing a presentation for a conditional‑use permit recheck related to alcohol permits previously approved by the commission and that additional trainings requested by commissioners will be scheduled.

No formal commission votes were held on these topics during the meeting; staff presented scheduling and administrative information and requested commissioners complete the training and attend upcoming workshops.
