Students from Moton Elementary led the Pledge of Allegiance at the start of the meeting and later presented highlights of the school's Leader in Me program to the board.
Principal Patty Martin introduced the student group and described Moton as a “hidden gem,” noting clubs that expose students to a range of jobs. Several students introduced themselves by name and grade while the board thanked the group for leading the pledge.
At the meeting the board recognized district employees from Moton for long service: Robin Kidd (34 years), Jody Mills (34), Michelle Ross (34), Lisa Henderson (32) and Kimberly Boogner (30). The board called those employees forward to receive certificates and posed for a group photo.
Separately, the board recognized employees of the Southwest Florida Water Management District for donating hundreds of new shoes to Brooksville Elementary. The district’s contribution was presented by Casey Kuttman, hydraulic data analyst, with RJ Inman introduced as principal of Brooksville Elementary. The board thanked the Southwest Florida Water Management District for the donation and the volunteer effort behind it.
Students also described the Leader in Me pledge and activities such as making crafts for trunk‑or‑treat and working on math with ESE support staff. Board members thanked the students and staff for their participation and the district for the donation and employee service.
