During administrative announcements the board listed multiple vacancies on county advisory boards and commissions and urged residents — particularly those living in municipal extraterritorial jurisdictions (ETJs) — to apply.
Staff read vacancies including appointments needed on the adult care home advisory committee, animal grievance committee, board of health, central aging advisory committee, Mooresville Board of Adjustment (ETJ seat), nursing home advisory committee, Troutman planning board (alternate ETJ seat), and jury commission. Staff emphasized two ETJ seats for Mooresville and Troutman had been open for some time and encouraged municipal partners to recruit applicants.
The board also made one appointment by consent: Rodney Harris, deputy county manager, was appointed to serve on the Centralina Economic Development District (Centralina EDD).
Staff said they will provide a map of ETJ boundaries prior to the next meeting to help potential applicants confirm eligibility and encouraged municipalities to solicit applicants so county vacancies can be filled with residents who meet the ordinance and statutory requirements.
Commissioners discussed the interplay between county ordinance and statutes for ETJ appointments and asked staff to coordinate notifications with municipalities.
