The Public Projects Committee on Sept. 23 approved three items affecting city facilities: integration of commemorative lighting controls at City Hall and the parking deck, and incremental increases to chiller and roofing maintenance contracts.
The committee approved a minor public works contract with Main Stage Theatrical Supply for $22,400 to purchase and install commemorative lighting at City Hall and to bring the parking deck lighting onto the same control system used at Parker Hahn Park and the pedestrian bridge. Staff said the change will let staff make most control changes remotely from a desktop and reduce time spent at individual locations. Funding was identified as coming from the CFG five‑year plan.
The committee also approved Amendment No. 1 to the chiller maintenance minor public works contract, increasing compensation by $6,000 for a new total not to exceed $52,800 for inspections and repairs at city facilities. Staff said the increase covers additional repairs that have arisen and that the work is funded through the general fund maintenance contract line.
Amendment No. 2 to the roofing services minor public works contract with Freeman Sheet Metal was approved, increasing the contract by $8,500 to a new total not to exceed $53,500. Staff reported most of the roofing work has already been performed and that the amendment covers necessary repairs; funding is from general fund outside services.
All three items were approved by voice vote.
