Board staff presented continuing professional development (CPD) and renewals data covering January through May 2025 and answered questions about audits and reporting procedures.
Staff reported that 93% of psychologists and psychological associates renewed online during Jan–May 2025 and that the typical approved-renewal types included about 80% active psychologist renewals and roughly 7% inactive. The report said psychological testing technicians and the recently added research psychoanalyst categories had small renewal counts in the same period and will be included in future reports.
On audits, staff reported a 42% pass rate in the audits reflected in the meeting materials, with 58% outstanding or pending review. Staff said there have been no failed audits in the reviewed January–May sample and that for January and February the pass rate was 100% in the reviewed material. Staff explained that the board selects audit samples monthly (about 2% of approved renewals), sends an initial audit notice with the CPD reporting form and due date, and typically allows 60 days for submission.
Several public commenters who said they had been audited described the reporting form as helpful but restrictive, noting field limits and formatting problems that required creating separate documents. Committee staff clarified that the CPD reporting form is a courtesy form and not mandatory; licensees may submit their own documentation if they prefer. Committee members and staff said they are working on clarifying instructions and improving user experience for the reporting form.
The committee did not change audit policy at the meeting. Staff said audits will continue monthly and noted that audit selection and response timelines are described in the audit notice.
Staff will continue to report trends, incorporate additional license categories into renewals reporting, and work to make the CPD reporting experience clearer and more user-friendly.
