Background: Staff said the parcels had flipped between RM-32 and B-3 during previous zoning reviews in 2017 and 2018. The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) requested the rezoning to return the parcels to B-3 to support marketing and prospective development; the DDA voted unanimously on July 9 to make the application. The Planning Commission held a public hearing on Aug. 13, received no public comments and recommended approval to council.
Council action: Councilmember Meadows moved to approve ordinance 15-54; the motion was seconded and the rezoning passed unanimously.
Why it matters: Rezoning to B-3 allows City Center commercial uses and is intended to make the parcels developable for downtown projects that require the B-3 zoning designation.
