Staff told the board that new seating has been bolted into place, railings are being installed, and handicapped platforms are scheduled for completion in November.
Director Dave said the seats were secured "before the bull riding started" and that the venue used them for a large pedal-pull event where staff counted about 4,000 people through the door. "We put 7 50 chairs roughly, folding chairs that we would like use for concerts and graduations," he said, describing additional folding seating in the upper bowls. (The director described this as an approximate figure.)
He said railings in section C are complete, section B is nearly finished and staff expect railings down to section A to be finished "by Thursday." He added the handicapped platforms on section B at two entrances "will be completed in November." The director said there are currently 16 handicapped-accessible chairs on the end caps that allow side entry for wheelchairs or walkers, and the venue will retain four floor seats plus companion seats.
Staff also noted that logos are applied to seat sides, and the venue will update some sticker labeling for better seat locating. Two pallets of spare backs, seats, hardware and touch-up paint will be stored in the basement, and staff received a tutorial on proper disassembly and reassembly so replacements can be handled in house. The director credited Jeff and his team for overseeing the installation.
No board vote or policy change occurred; the update was part of the director’s facilities report.
