Midvale City Council voted unanimously Oct. 7 to approve a Mid Valley Sewer District boundary adjustment that changes how 16 parcels are assigned between Mid Valley and neighboring improvement districts.
The changes were presented by staff member Brandon Anderson during a public hearing; Anderson said the district had completed a service-area study and that some properties were being retitled so property tax and service charges align with the sewer district that actually provides service. Anderson said there is no direct financial impact on Midvale City. The council approved Resolution 2025-R-60.
Why it matters: the lieutenant governor's office asked for formal resolutions from municipalities that are touched by the Mid Valley service area after the district completed its review, prompting Midvale's action to “tighten that up,” Anderson said during the meeting.
Discussion and outcome: There were no public comments at the hearing. Council moved to open and close public comment and then to adopt the resolution; the motion passed unanimously. Staff said the adjustment mostly aligns tax and fee responsibility with actual service provision by Mid Valley or the Cottonwood Improvement District.
What comes next: staff will record the change and Mid Valley will implement the revised billing/taxing structure for the affected properties.
