Lieutenant Jeff Howard told the board the upgrade is needed so the quickest-routes function will correctly identify the closest unit available to emergency calls. The quotation referenced Q553187 and the department said funds to cover the upgrade will come from 911 accounts; staff said the cost was not budgeted in advance but 911 has available funds.
A commissioner asked whether the upgrade is a one-time expense or includes an ongoing fee; staff replied it is a one-time upgrade.
Motion to approve the quotation carried unanimously with aye votes from Commissioner Urbanland, Commissioner Duncan and the chair.
