County awards $49,750 contract to Westland Construction for Upper Twin boat-launch fixed pier

Kootenai County commissioners on Oct. 7 approved a $49,750 contract to build a fixed pier at the Upper Twin boat launch.
Nick Snyder, Parks and Waterways director, said the contract with Westland Construction will construct a fixed pier and dock system at the upper twin boat launch to mitigate seasonal ice damage and reduce annual labor to remove and replace the dock. Snyder told the board funding will come from boat-launch user fee accounts and no general fund tax dollars will be used; he said the project is anticipated to be completed in April 2026.
Motion to approve the contract carried unanimously with aye votes from Commissioner Eberlai, Commissioner Duncan and Chair Motari.
