County OKs $34,239 contract for Canfield FireSmart hazardous-fuels treatment

Kootenai County commissioners approved a contract Oct. 7 to treat 20.2 acres of hazardous wildland fuels under a Canfield FireSmart grant.
Andrea Littlefield, speaking for the Kootenai County Office of Emergency Management, told the board the county has a contract with Next Generation Logging LLC for $34,239 to perform hand-treatment on 20.2 acres as part of the Canfield FireSmart grant program.
Littlefield said the agreement supports hazardous‑fuel reduction work funded through the FireSmart grant; she confirmed the contract document had been signed and forwarded to the office after the packet was printed.
Motion to approve the contract carried unanimously with recorded aye votes from Commissioner Aberline, Commissioner Duncan and Chair Charles.
