Gallatin — The Gallatin City Council voted unanimously on Oct. 7 to authorize the issuance and sale of general obligation bonds not to exceed $23 million to finance capital improvements including fire stations and apparatus, road and traffic projects, parks and recreational facilities, and certain technology and public building needs.
The council approved both an initial resolution to authorize issuance and a resolution authorizing the sale and payment terms. The bond package is intended to finance a range of capital priorities identified by city staff. City materials and the reading into the record listed uses that include: acquisition, improvement and equipping of public works and public safety facilities, fire apparatus and related vehicles and equipment, traffic signal systems, parks and recreation projects and equipment, technology equipment and cloud services, and bond issuance costs.
Council members said the financing will support planned public-safety investments and other capital needs. The two resolutions — recorded as R2509-59 (initial resolution authorizing issuance) and R2509-60 (authorizing sale and levy for debt service) — passed on voice votes with no recorded opposition.
What happens next: City staff will work with municipal finance advisors and bond counsel to finalize sale documents and schedules. Specific projects funded by the bonds will proceed through established capital project approval and procurement processes.
