Deputy Superintendent Lola Mysdorovic presented the district's transition process for the 2026–27 boundary changes and the communication timeline for families.
Mysdorovic said current 9th through 11th graders will be rolled into their current high schools for next year to avoid complexity related to programming, academies and prior residency exceptions. "For our current high school students who are in grades 9 through 11, we've decided that they are going to remain at their current high schools," she said.
For kindergarten through 8th grade students, assignments will follow the new boundary map and feeder patterns. Mysdorovic said families would receive the following communications: a general assignment confirmation email for high‑school families by Oct. 31 and individualized mailed letters for K–8 families in the same week. Residency‑exception requests may be submitted Nov. 1–13; the district aims to review requests and notify families by Nov. 21.
Mysdorovic said the timeline is intended to give families clarity before course selection and other planning. "If there is a residency exception that is granted, it'll transfer over to the new school," she said, explaining that course requests entered in Infinite Campus would carry over if an exception is approved.
Trustees asked about transportation logistics for students who remain at a prior high school despite boundary changes. One trustee asked whether the district will continue multiple bus routes serving the same neighborhood for three years; Mysdorovic said the transportation team is working on routing and would provide details at a subsequent update or memo.
Mysdorovic said the district will provide a series of monthly updates during the transition; the November briefing will focus on course selection for rising sixth and seventh graders and staffing timelines, and the December update will address transportation routing and classroom moves.
Ending: Staff said the district will continue monthly progress reports and provide families with assignment letters and instructions on residency exceptions.
