Council introduces $1.98 million Valor Park causeway improvements bid award

City staff reported that APAC Alabama Inc. was the lowest responsible bidder at $1,975,044.50 for the Valor Park Causeway site improvements project funded with GoMesa state funds.
Staff said the bid tabulation and recommendation were attached to the project materials and that the project was delayed earlier by federal Corps of Engineers and state approvals. The state grant money used to acquire the land will also fund the construction work.
The measure was introduced during the Oct. 6 meeting and is scheduled for consideration on the council’s Oct. 20 agenda; it was not adopted that evening. Staff answered technical questions from councilmembers about line items and explained some unnumbered line items in the bid are typically absorbed in contractor costs.
If the council approves the contract on Oct. 20, the mayor would be authorized to execute the construction contract with APAC Alabama Inc. for the stated bid amount.
