The Secaucus Board of Education approved several agenda items including prior meeting minutes, personnel resolutions, policy updates and changes to scheduled meeting dates, with a handful of abstentions recorded during roll-call votes.
A motion to approve the regular meeting minutes of Nov. 21, 2024, was made and seconded; the roll call recorded “Yes” votes from the majority and abstentions from Miss Geller and Mister Lyons. Board members later approved personnel resolutions R1.01 through R1.09 and motion M1.01, which the acting superintendent had recommended; the motions were moved and seconded and passed on roll call.
Business Administrator/Board Secretary Grace requested approval to amend scheduled board meeting dates: moving the Feb. 20 meeting to Feb. 13 and the March 20 meeting to March 18 so the district can meet the county budget submission timeline (budget due March 19). The board approved the date changes on roll call.
Under policy work, the board postponed policies P5111, P5701 and P9163 and accepted the recommendation to adopt Resolution R2.01. The education committee’s recommendations for field trips and an English 11 (British literature) curriculum—Resolutions R3.01 and R3.02—were approved. The operations committee reported completed and ongoing maintenance and capital work (door replacements, Promethean board installations, lighting projects and a gym floor), and the board adopted Resolutions R4.01 through R4.08 with abstentions recorded by Miss Geller on R4.02 and R4.03.
No new contracts, ordinance adoptions, or budget appropriations requiring separate public hearings were introduced during these votes; the actions were routine approvals of personnel, policy updates and scheduling.
